My wife and I served with Wycliffe Bible Translators from 1976 to 2010, for the majority of that time in the Mediterranean region. As well as working with local translators to prepare oral Bible stories in the local languages, we trained both expatriate workers and local believers to use "Chronological Bible Storying" methodology for evangelism, church planting and discipleship.
One unexpected outcome of working with oral learners, was seeing how their method of learning, understanding and remembering Scripture threw up insights and practical applications that I, with my literate, analytical, "left-brain" background, had never grasped before. Discovering how to read the Bible as story, to appreciate the character development, plot lines, visual imagery and emotional content, gave me a fresh way to "bring out treasures old and new" from the Biblical narrative.

The purpose of sharing the ideas and insights presented here is to encourage those of us who are used to a traditional western analytical learning style to appreciate the Bible in a new, fresh way, and to experience it's power to change our minds, our hearts and our lives to reflect His glory.

May God bless you as you open your mind to God's Word.
